5 114 CHAPTER 5 of the researchers (YHAB) following the feedback session. This researcher had no responsibilities or role in the participants’ treatment. The participant who had dropped out was interviewed about his experiences with the construction of the personalized ESM questionnaire and his impressions of the electronic monitoring application. The interviews were conducted by telephone or using video calling. All interviews were recorded, with consent of the participants. Text box 5.2 illustrates the construction of a personalized questionnaire and the interpretation of the feedback report for one of the participants. 5.2.2.4.1 Statistical analyses Descriptive statistics using the log data and the online evaluation and TWEETS responses were calculated using IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 28). 5.3 RESULTS The average age of the participants was 40 years (range 27-51). Three participants had been charged for the first time for a sexual offense, one volunteered for treatment without ever having been charged, and one had two prior convictions for a sexual offense. Five participants had victimized at least one minor and two participants had only engaged in non-contact offenses. The personalized feedback report was drafted and discussed by each participant and his therapist (JWvdB) within an average of 27 (range 6-69) days following the last ESM measurement. The semi-structured interview was conducted (by YHAB) within an average of 11 days (range 5-26 days) after discussing the feedback report. Further descriptive information on the sample is presented in Table 5.1. 5.3.1 VALUE OF FEEDBACK TO CASE FORMULATION 5.3.1.1 Understandability graphs in the feedback report During the semi-structured interview, participants indicated that the bar graphs, as compared to the network graphs and time series plots, added the least to their understanding of the interrelationships among risk-relevant features. Some participants reported difficulties reading these bar charts, demonstrating the mean score and 95% confidence interval of each risk-relevant feature. Several participants considered the time series plots to be insightful as they showed clear patterns in time of the dynamic course of risk-relevant features. Altogether, participants judged that the network graph had the highest added value to their case formulation.
