5 119 PERSONALIZED MONITORING AND FEEDBACK Figure 5.3: Boxplots of answers on the online questionnaire on a scale of 1 to 100 (not at all - very much). While this study contains five participants, the answers of the participants are represented by the five number summary of the boxplot, that is the: minimum, maximum, sample median, and the first and third quartiles. Outliers are marked with an *. The complete questions of the online questions are: 1 = Did you find the oral instruction before beginning the diary measurements helpful?; 2 = Did you find the written instruction you were given to take home helpful?; 4 = How user-friendly did you find the diary?; 5 = Did you find completing the diary stressful in terms of the content of the questions?; 6 = Did you find completing the diary burdensome in terms of the number of daily measurements (5 times)?; 7 = Did you find completing the diary burdensome in terms of the length of time it took to take measurements each time?; 8 = Did you find completing the diary burdensome in terms of the length of the entire measurement period (2 weeks)?; 9 = Did you have to adjust your normal activities or daily routine because of the measurement events?; 11 = Did it motivate you that the diary was tailored (personalized)?; 12 = Were your emotions ever positively influenced by answering the questions?; 13 = Were your sexual feelings ever positively influenced by answering the questions?; 14 = Were your emotions ever negatively influenced by answering the questions?; 15 = Were your sexual feelings ever negatively influenced by answering the questions? Items 3, 10, 16 (categorical variables), and 17 (open-ended question) are not included in the boxplot. of notifications was considered too high by several participants. Some stated that once a day would suffice, while others suggested two or three times a day would be enough. One participant suggested the frequency of ESM measurements to be dependent on the purpose of recording risk-relevant features. He suggested that higher frequencies should be warranted if patterns on interactions between risk-relevant features needed to be disclosed, whereas lower frequencies would be sufficient as reminders to riskrelevant features when patterns were already clear. Findings of the online questionnaire, presented in figure 5.3, were consistent with those of the semi-structured interview. None of the participants considered the content of items distressing. In general, completing the ESM measurement in length of time was not a burden for participants (no burden
